That’s the question we get asked all the time from our clients. I can tell you from experience, it all depends on the keyword phrases you are targeting and the strength and current ranking position for each of your site. In other words, if you’re targeting a non competitive keyword phrase and your site is already established and trusted by Google, chances are that you can get it ranking at the top with just a few high quality inbound links from relevant sources. However, if your site is brand new and untrusted, targeting highly competitive keywords such as ‘travel’, you better settle in for the long haul because it’s going to take thousands of high quality inbound links to accomplish the same task.
So how do we know exactly? The truth is, no one really knows, but like our CSO, Matt Stoddart says, the more you have, the better off you’ll be or as I’d like to say, “he with the most links WINS”!
