I have seen clients fight their way to the front page of Google, then to a top 5 position, then a top 3 and lastly, to the #1 spot for their keywords and let me tell you, the amount of traffic and business they generate changes drastically from level to level.  These are my favorite type of clients because it is them that understand the value of a text link ad campaign fully, and how much the right kind of text links can impact their organic rankings in the SERPS.
